We had a great time on this short hike just north of Oslo. I am consistently struck by how seamlessly and beautifully nature exists alongside the city. In other words, it’s so easy to get outside and enjoy the environment here that it almost makes me feel guilty not to do so. On this particular Sunday, we took the T-Bane to the last stop at Frognerseteren, walked to the cafe and got some Norwegian meatballs, green pea mash, and potatoes, followed it with a cinnamon bun (what else?), and then started our hike to Vettakollen viewpoint. The cafe was fun, housed in a striking nineteenth-century building and boasting traditional Norwegian fare, along with a table of baked goods that made my children bonkers with the pressure of choosing just one. Getting to Frognerseteren took a little under an hour. The hike took about two hours of meandering and looking for things that caught our attention.
